In May 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) has tested the contents of various E-Cigs cartridges produced by two vendors, Smoking Everywhere and Njoy.

Tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs), known cancer-causing agents, were detected in all the cartridges from one brand and two of the cartridges from the other brand!

The study reveals further that the actual nicotine levels did not always correspond to the amount of nicotine levels printed on the cartridges, and in some cartridges that claimed to be nicotine-free the analysis found traces of nicotine! Exponent concluded that the FDA’s study did not support the claims of potential adverse health effects from the use of electronic cigarettes.
American Association of Public Health Physicians (AAPHP)not against E-Cigs
E-Cigs manufacturers can count on support of the American Association of Public Health Physicians see their statement.
A Tobacco Cigarette smoker can reduce his risk of future tobacco-related death by 98% or even better by switching to a low risk smokeless tobacco product.
He or she could cut that risk by 100% or better by switching to a nicotine-only delivery product like one of the pharmaceutical products or E-Cigs. Experience suggests that E-Cigs may be more acceptable to smokers than the currently available pharmaceutical alternatives.
A smoker can secure almost all the health benefits of quitting if he transitions to an E-Cigs.
The AAPHP recommends further that the FDA reclassify the electronic cigarette as a tobacco product and believes that the effects of second-hand smoke (passive smoke) will be significantly decreased using E-Cigs,
